Maintenance

Outdoor blinds are an aesthetically pleasing product and add an elegant yet functional finish to any outdoor space. Please follow these steps to maintain the quality and integrity of your blinds:

  1. Carry out regular checks on the structure- conduct periodic inspections of your external blinds to check for signs of wear, damage or malfunction.
  2. Check your structure after a major wind or weather event- It is particularly important to check your external blind and the surrounding fixtures after any major wind event including storms.
  3. Fully retract your blinds ahead of strong wind events- leaving your blinds down or partially down in windy conditions leaves them more vulnerable to damage and malfunction. Ensure they are fully retracted in these turbulent conditions.
  4. Cutback overhanging trees and branches- tree debris can cause damage to your blind and should be trimmed back.
  5. Clean your blinds once a month- after brushing off any dust or debris with a soft-bristled brush, use a mild detergent (appropriate for the fabric) to gently wipe the fabric and rinse with fresh water. Wipe dry with a soft lint-free cloth or sponge. It is best to conduct cleaning on a hot day so the blinds can dry naturally.  Allow to dry completely before retracting.
  6. Lubricate the working parts as required- use silicone spray on the side channels as needed to maintain the smooth performance of your motorised blind,

*Failure to maintain your blinds appropriately may result in warranty becoming void.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time-frame for the installation of my blind?

The installation time can vary from job to job and is dependent on factors such as permit requirements, work conditions and project size.

As a rough guide for a small residential job, the design, manufacture, supply and installation takes around 4 weeks.

Time frames are completely job dependent. The team will be able to give you a rough estimate of lead times after quoting. Looking at our recent projects may also give you an indication of timings.

What is the cost for the design, supply and installation of a blind?

The cost of a blind is dependent on a range of job- and industry-specific factors. Location, design and engineering are just some factors that may impact the price of an outdoor blind. In addition to this, external factors such as the cost of labour and materials also play a part in determining the overall pricing of a project.

Looking at our recent projects may give some indication of pricing. For a more accurate estimate, we recommend contacting us for a quote using the details on our contact page.

Do I need a permit for my outdoor blind?

Permits are not usually required for the installation of a blind alone. The situation differs when installing a larger shade structure such as a Louvre Roof that may include a blind as an optional extra.

Are outdoor blinds waterproof?

External blinds are water resistant and provide some protection from the rain. Since the main purpose of an outdoor blind is to absorb heat and block UV rays from the sun, they are not designed to be completely waterproof.
