St Monica’s Primary School contacted us in need of a shade structure that would provide adequate sun protection for their school community. In particular, they needed a sheltered space where students could play whilst being protected from the elements. The area in question called for a unique, tailor-made design from us, consisting of multiple shade cloth sails that flowed effortlessly from the existing school building.
Works began after obtaining underground service drawings, building permits and engineering certificates. The structure consisted of 5 sails secured to 7 poles, interconnecting in a stylish fashion and totalling 220sqm of material. Each pole was wrapped in padding to prevent the risk of injury by collision.
The outside area was immediately transformed by the addition of navy blue and aquamarine sails. Not only do the sails provide ample coverage for staff and students, but they also add to the overall aesthetic of the school.
